Pupil Premium at Draycott Community Primary School
Pupil Premium is additional funding for publicly funded schools in England to raise the attainment of disadvantaged pupils and close the gap between them and their peers.
Each school will decide how Pupil Premium, allocated to schools per free school meal pupil, is spent, since they are best placed to assess what additional provision should be made for the individual pupils who qualify.
At Draycott Community Primary School, we have high aspirations and ambitions for all our children. We strongly believe that having a thirst for knowledge as well as dedication and commitment to learning, will drive success.
We are determined to ensure that our children are given every chance to realise their full potential. Pupil Premium Funding, along with allocations made from the school’s own budget will help ensure this money is spent to maximum effect.
Pupil Premium Spending
Our pupil premium money has been used to provide a range of additional support for our children and these interventions, along with quality teaching have had a positive impact on children’s attainment and self-belief.
Through targeted interventions we are working hard to eliminate barriers to learning. Targeted support is provided through one-to-one and small group interventions. These interventions support children in knowing where they are and what they need to do to improve their work. Parental engagement is vital to support their child’s progress and we would like to increase this through providing support, resources and opportunities to engage with school.
How will the school measure the impact of the pupil premium?
To monitor progress on attainment, new measures have been included in the performance tables that will capture the achievement of pupils covered by Pupil Premium. At Draycott Community Primary School, the usual cycle of data collection and the monitoring and tracking of the cohort’s attainment, will be used to inform pupil progress and enable the early identification of need, support and appropriate intervention. Review meetings regularly take place (approximately every 6 weeks). This is undertaken by our Pupil Premium Team – The Headteacher and EYFS Leader.
At each review point the school evaluates the impact of actions ensuring consistency of delivery through school - alongside this, the team review how the funding is allocated. When selecting pupils for Pupil Premium intervention groups, the school will look at all pupils across the school. There are some pupils who are not eligible for Pupil Premium who will benefit from these groups if their needs are similar, and we believe including them, progress can be made towards individual targets.
Pupil Premium Funding and the impact of this is a regular item on the governors’ Curriculum and Finance committees.

Eligibility for Pupil Premium/Free School Meals
A parent may wish to check their child's eligibility for Pupil Premium or continued free school meals as soon as they start in the nursery or reception class. Nursery children who are entitled will attract the funding for their time in nursery. Reception children who are entitled will attract the funding for their entire primary years, even if the free meal entitlement stops.

You will need to enter your name, address, national insurance number or asylum support service number. In addition, you will need to provide your child's name, date of birth and identify the school they are attending.
All children aged 3 to 18 at Derbyshire nurseries or schools can get a free meal if they qualify.
Qualifying criteria:
- Universal Credit, provided they have an annual net earned income not exceeding £7,400 (£616.67 per month)
- Income Support
- Income-based Jobseekers Allowance
- Income-related Employment and Support Allowance
- Support under Part 6 of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999
- The guarantee element of State Pension Credit
- Child Tax Credit (provided you’re not also entitled to Working Tax Credit and have an annual gross income of no more than £16,190) as assessed by HMRC
- Working Tax Credit run-on (paid for 4 weeks after you stop qualifying for Working Tax Credit)
Universal Credit has begun to be rolled out in Derbyshire and will affect all areas of Derbyshire by the end of 2022.
Most families will not be affected by the new criteria. Families who are currently claiming free school meals, but fail to meet the new criteria, will continue to receive free school meals until the end of the Universal Credit rollout period, even if they appear as no longer eligible on future reports. The rollout period is currently scheduled to end in March 2022.
Once Universal Credit is fully rolled out, pupils will keep their free school meal entitlement until the end of their current phase of education, that is, primary or secondary.
Pupil Premium is an important payment for schools and a good opportunity for eligible parents to get even more support for their children in schools.
